Made out of hand loomed textiles from the Philippines, Sugarcane is a new girls' brand designed and made in California. Its clean silhouettes place the focus on its intricate weaves, resulting in an effortless globetrotter style. Its bib dress and bib tank are inspired by indigenous costumes of the Ati people. Founder Ria Faust sources directly from the weavers to make a difference in global communities, help preserve the art of loom weaving, and support its women artisans.
Earlier this year Julie and I went to New York to check out children's wear trade shows and find out which would be the best fit for Sugarcane. It was a lightning quick trip but I'm glad I did the research before deciding. Here are a few outtakes from our short trip.
At Playtime we met the incredibly kind and lovely Lulu, owner of Allegria Boutique. She invited us to check out her shop. Luckily, Williamsburg was on our itinerary and we were able to pop in after brunch at Cafe Mogador. Her shop was so dreamy.
It'll be a family affair in August with Ricci and Nectar helping me staff the Sugarcane booth. Wish us luck!
